Hi! I'm Jen,

I’m Jen Kirsch, the 53-year-old personal trainer, nutrition coach, and creator of the STRAIGHT UP STRENGTH series of workout programs. 

Once upon a time, I was a devoted cardio junkie and endurance athlete, but that all changed once I hit my early 40’s (hello hormones and perimenopause!).

 

That was when  I shifted my training away from all the cardio and started prioritizing strength training.

Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy cardio (and I include it in almost all my programs), I no longer feel like I spend hours every week sweating it out on the treadmill or the stationary bike in order to reach my physique goals. 

I created the STRAIGHT UP STRENGTH series for midlife women who not only want to build and maintain lean muscle, but they also want to feel stronger and fit so they can maintain vitality in midlife with workouts that allow you to spend less time working out and more time enjoying life without compromising your results.

  • What equipment do I need?
    Ideally, you'll have two or three sets of dumbbells ranging from 5 to 8 pounds up to 20 to 25 pounds, depending on your fitness level. Additionally, traditional weight training equipment, a bench, stability ball, and mini bands are utilized. Modifications are given in many cases, however click here if you would like links to suggested equipment.
  • What format do the workouts come in?
    Each workout includes step-by-step instructions and a space to track your sets, reps, and weights. As a VIP you'll also get access to the full-length follow-along guided video as well as LIVE workouts for a more immersive experience.
  • Can I modify and work around injuries?
    Alternatives are provided for various exercises to accommodate injuries. However, if your injuries significantly limit basic movements like squats, lunges, and push-ups, the program may be challenging. Coaching calls can offer personalized guidance.
  • Is it possible to join later?
    Currently, VIP enrollment is limited to alumni of my Straight Up Strength programs and recent fitness challenge participants. The next enrollment window will not be until late Fall 2025.
  • How many workouts are included in each cycle and how long are they?
    Each week, you'll receive four full-length strength training workouts, averaging 35 to 40 minutes. Additionally, shorter core, flexibility, and HIIT workouts are provided as add-ons, ranging from 10 to 20 minutes.
  • I've been a part of several of your programs. Will those be available in the app?
    No, you'll still access your other programs on the website jenniferkirschfitness.com.
  • Will I retain access to my current round of Straight up Strength?
    If you're currently in the live 8-week round of Straight Up Strength then you will maintain access to the last 2 weeks workouts for 4 weeks so that you can complete any final workouts that might not have been complete...if you choose to. However, if you missed a workout you do not need to try and go back to complete that workout, you can just move forward into the new workouts that are being given to you upon signing up for the Straight Up Strength Series.
  • Will there be another 8-Week Straight Up Strength, and if so when?
    The next Straight Up Strength 8-week program is tentatively scheduled for Fall of 2025. By selecting the VIP option, you'll automatically be enrolled in Straight Up Strength when the new cohort begins, provided your account is in good standing. Keep in mind, Straight Up Strength offers enhanced coaching and additional features beyond the monthly continuity. By opting for the continuity VIP option now, your access to the live Straight Up Strength program will be included in your membership. As well as all future Straight Up Strength Programs, for as long as you remain a VIP Member.
  • Is the continuity SUS and SUS VIP good for beginners?
    This program is not a beginner program. It's assumed that you have some experience with strength training. If you are new to training in this capacity, check out the STRONGER U Basics program HERE. Feel free to us support@jenniferkirschfitness.com for guidance on the best fit for you.
  • What if I can't do four workouts per week?
    Consistency is key, but the workouts in the program allow for a level of flexibility. For best results, aim for at least three workouts per week adjusting as needed for busy weeks or unpredictable schedules.
  • What if I'm doing another program or app?
    Consider your current fitness level and listen to your body. Overtraining may hinder results, so focus on quality over quantity. Choose the program that aligns best with your goals and recovery needs.
  • Do the workouts include full length videos?
    The workouts in the SUS include demo videos or cues for each exercise. SUS VIP members gain access to full-length follow-along guided videos in addition to the features offered in the app and the added coaching support with messenger access and LIVE monthly events.
  • What if I'm over 60? Can I still do this program?
    Can I still join? Yes absolutely!! The program is suitable for all adult women…(my clients range in age from mid 40’s to 70 + years old. As long as you have a good fitness level and no significant injuries, you're welcome to participate!!
  • What's your refund policy?
    The Straight Up Strength Series membership is month-to-month, with just a one-month minimum commitment. You’re free to cancel anytime, and there’s no long-term commitment required! If you ever decide to cancel, you’ll still have access to the app through the end of your current billing cycle. After that, your access will simply end on what would have been your next billing date.
  • What if I want to do all LIVE workouts?
    I teach live 3x per week and each workout is 60 minutes. If you have questions about that option please click here to book a LIVE class.
  • Can I start with Basic and upgrade to VIP later?
    VIP enrollment only happens twice a year, right after each round of the 8-week Straight Up Strength coaching program. Once the group starts, spots are closed to keep everyone progressing together without feeling behind. You can downgrade from VIP to Basic at any time, though! If you’re not sure which option is best for you, reach out—I’m happy to help you decide before we kick off. To make changes to your membership, please reach out to support@jenniferkirschfitness.com.
